Rika Sonia Ndimbira

Rika Sonia Ndimbira (known as Sonia), leads the Africa REACH initiative, based in Cape Town, Africa Reaching the End of AIDS in Children and Young People in Africa by 2025 (Africa REACH ) is an African-led, African-focused effort that envisions an Africa with children and young people free from AIDS. Its mission is to renew commitment, influence African political and cultural structures and intergenerational leadership, and accelerate continental momentum, to end AIDS among children and young people.

Sonia manages the hub activities, builds partnerships and strengths relations with the Leadership Council member. She is also responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan 2023- 2025 and all administrative and operational needs.

Prior to joining Africa REACH, she was the first Executive Secretary for the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) permanent secretariat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and is also the former Communications and Advocacy Officer for the African Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (FPA). Sonia holds a Masters Degree in International Development from the Kimmage Development Studies Center in Ireland and B.A. Honors in African History and Art from the University of Namibia. 

Sonia is a Namibian citizen and a mother of two young girls, she is passionate about African politics and history.
