
Mohamed Chakroun
Mohamed Chakroun is a Medical Doctor, infectious diseases specialist, and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Monastir, Tunisia. He is a physician providing care and supporting people living with HIV (PLHIV) with extensive experience in HIV care, antiretroviral therapy (ART), and prevention, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT).
He supported the HIV/AIDS & STIs & Hepatitis (HAS) Unit in the WHO Regional Office (Cairo, Egypt) in the areas of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and combination HIV prevention, as well as the UNICEF Regional Office (Amman, Jordan) in the Triple Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (EMTCT) of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.
He’s a member of the:
– WHO Guideline Development Group for the use of antiretrovirals, as well as a member of WHO HIVResNet.
– HIV Control Thematic Group for the Africa HIV Control Working Group (HCWG).
– Regional Advisory Panel (RAP) of the National Institute of the Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for the MENAT region.
He’s Chair of Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Tunisia, member of the Ethics and Governance Committee as well as Board Member (BM) for Eastern Mediterranean Region Constituency (EMRC) at the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
