Sasha Stevenson

Sasha Stevenson is the Executive Director at SECTION27, a public interest law organisation in South Africa. She is a health rights lawyer who has practiced at SECTION27 for the past 11 years, recently representing bereaved families in the Life Esidimeni arbitration and inquest, and the applicants in litigation to re-start the school feeding programme to mitigate child hunger during the COVID-19 lockdown. 

She is the author of a number of book chapters and articles on the right to health, climate justice and the right to food, and has spoken at international and domestic conferences on these themes. Sasha holds BA, Honours and Law degrees from Rhodes University in South Africa, and an LLM degree from the University of Cambridge. 

Before SECTION27, Sasha worked at a private law firm, as a Law Clerk to former Chief Justice Pius Langa at the Constitutional Court, and for the Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
