Dr Caspian Chouraya
Dr Caspian Chouraya is a Public Health Specialist with extensive strategic leadership, clinical and technical HIV experience of over 18 years. In his current role as EGPAF Regional Director, he oversees programmatic and operational activities and provides strategic guidance to several countries under his portfolio. Before his current role, Dr Chouraya held various positions including Country Director, Technical Director, Technical Advisor and Medical Officer. His main areas of focus are PMTCT, Pediatric HIV, HIV Care and Treatment, PrEP, VMMC and HIV Testing Services (HTS) among many others. He has experience working with various donors which include CDC, USAID, UNITAID, ELMA Philanthropies, Global Fund, Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFATD formerly CIDA), Abbott, ViiV, Gilead, American Cancer Society, Johnson and Johnson. Dr Chouraya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Zimbabwe; a Postgraduate Diploma in HIV Management from the College of Medicine in South Africa; a Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases from the University of Buckingham and a Master of Science Degree in Epidemiology from the University of Pretoria.
